Portraits

Painting or drawing portraits represents a special discipline and commitment from the beginning of my artistic activity and practice. For me, it holds a special significance, similar to revisiting one's birthplace, one's matrix. In the free-flowing painting within my other cycles, there is always some connection or discovery of an idea for what I will paint, but whenever I do not know what to paint, I return to the portrait as a distinct discipline that has its strict principles keeping me on track. These are close friends or acquaintances whom I portray using various techniques such as watercolor, oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, or drawings with sepia, pencil, and charcoal.
